I’m training for a half-marathon coming up in January and I had to take off a few days on and off due to illness and then a mildly twisted ankle. This weekend is supposed to include a long run of 8 miles (!) according to my training program. I have a special-occasion Italian dinner on Saturday (yikes) so I’m letting that serve as an unofficial carbo-load and trying for the 8 on Sunday morning.
Anyways, it is raining here as usual this time of year, so I hit the treadmill and got in just over 6 miles, at about 1 hr 10 min. (I’m slow, but that’s okay). At about the 50 min I could actually feel the glycogen draining away and my legs running out of gas, so I ate one serving, or half a package, of Clif Shot Bloks (100 cals, 24 carbs, 0 fat, 0 protein).
I’m experimenting with these different energy/carb shot products right now but I hope to find a real-food alternative soon that will fit in my dork belt.

Just trying to stay healthy, fit, and sane in a world that is often none of these.

This blog is about healthy food, fitness, body image, self care, recovery, weightlifting, and all that kind of stuff.

After years of obsessive calorie-counting, bad habits, and worse self-image, I'm choosing to get better... So bear with me as I retool this blog a bit.
