I’ve read some blogs during this whole [rape joke controversy] that have enlightened me. This woman said how rape is something that polices women’s lives. They have a narrow corridor. They can’t go out late, they can’t go to certain neighborhoods, they can’t dress a certain way…I never…that’s part of me now that wasn’t [there] before.

I was thinking about the Daniel Tosh fuckery again a few minutes ago on a brain tangent because I was sitting here thinking about how shitty it is that I don’t feel safe running alone in my neighborhood when it’s slightly dark because of all the landscaping/lack of proper lighting/etc. (Also, drivers here just don’t give a fuck and there seems to be a pedestrian or cyclist casualty almost every day.)

ANYWAYS, for whoever was following the drama online (especially on Twitter) following Tosh’s gross rape non-joke, here is what I *thought* happened with Louis CK. Louis (who I LOVE as a comedian), tweeted at Tosh something like, “I always laugh every time I see your show.” However, I’m pretty sure Louis has OPENLY said he hates Tosh.0 and Tosh’s brand of comedy, so I actually read that tweet as an ironic dig/fuck-you rather than a tweet of support.

Am I crazy for interpreting it that way, or did I miss something? I’m looking at the retweets of this quote and I see some people saying Louis needs to apologize for supporting Tosh, but I didn’t interpret that tweet as support, at all. However, Patton Oswalt’s OVERT support of Tosh, writing off women’s offense at frat-bro rape jokes, was incredibly, incredibly disappointing coming from someone perceived to be a comic for “intelligent people.”

…This is another one. I know this is unrelated to fitness but this blog has been a little boring and protein shake-y lately so I figure I’ll sprinkle in a little bit of personal-interest stuff.

This is a clip of some of the best scenes from the movie The Room, and yes it is for real. Tell me someone else out there has seen it? It is absolutely one of my favorite so-bad-it’s-good movies of all time.

Just trying to stay healthy, fit, and sane in a world that is often none of these.

This blog is about healthy food, fitness, body image, self care, recovery, weightlifting, and all that kind of stuff.

After years of obsessive calorie-counting, bad habits, and worse self-image, I'm choosing to get better... So bear with me as I retool this blog a bit.
